少女(Kanyaa)在希臘語即Parthenon，也就是處女神雅典娜的神殿。
因為智慧女神雅典娜是不可侵犯的處女神，因此有人認為她的神盾就是守護貞潔的象徵。
即任何「武器(象徵陽具)」都無法刺穿這面「盾牌(守護處女)」。
在動漫作品中，雅典娜之盾就是「正義(也象徵太陽女神之光芒)」，可以阻擋與消滅一切邪惡，
因此，雅典娜胸乳上的箭矢也在雅典娜之盾的守護下消失。
雅典娜其中一個稱呼是「Pallas Athena」，有三種解釋－
1) she who killed and flayed the giant Pallas,
2) from palein meaning "brandish" - she who brandishes the Aigis (Aegis; Gr. Αἰγίς),
3) from pallax (Gr. πάλλαξ) meaning "virgin".
| （Παλλάς), a surname of Athena. In Homer this name always appears united with the name Athena, as Παλλὰς Ἀθήνη or Παλλὰς Ἀθηναίν ; but in later writers we also find Pallas alone instead of Athena. (Pind. O. 5.21.) Plato (Cratyl. p. 406) derives the surname from πάλλειν, to brandish, in reference to the goddess brandishing the spear or aegis, whereas Apollodorus (Apollod. 1.6.2) derives it from the giant Pallas, who was slain by Athena. But it is more probable that Pallas is the same word as πάλλαξ, i. e. a virgin or maiden. (Comp. Tzetz. ad Lyc. 355.) 另外有一則傳說，有翼巨人Pallas是雅典娜的父親，Pallas打算強暴雅典娜，也就是他的女兒，
年幼的雅典娜一怒之下，殺死Pallas而且剝下他的皮，作為她的胸甲－Aegis。
即警告任何想要侵犯、強暴她之人的下場就是如此。
A second and less well known birth story comes to us from Lycophron,
in which Athena was fathered the winged giant Pallas.
This Pallas later attempted to rape his daughter.
In a rage the young Athena killed her father and flayed him,
taking his skin for her breastplate – the aegis – and his wings for her own use.
In the oldest known depictions of Athena, such as at Sparta,she is shown winged.
(This was the first, but not the only threat to Athena's chastity in myth).
在此Aigis則與雅典娜捍衛自己的處女有關。
根據另一則神話希臘神話Pallas是雅典娜小時候的玩伴，據說，女神雅典娜出生後就由海神Triton收養。
Triton另有一個女兒，名叫Pallas，正好和雅典娜同齡，彼此情同姊妹。
這兩個女孩時常一起遊戲玩耍，一天，兩位年輕的少女舉行一場遊戲比賽，看看誰更強一些。
當Pallas擺出一副姿態，準備將「長矛」刺向雅典娜時，宙斯擔心心愛的女兒受傷，
就在她面前擋了一面「神盾(Aigis)」。Pallas一見，吃了一驚，露出一處破綻，被雅典娜一槍刺中。
對她的死，女神深感悲痛。為紀念好友，她為親友Pallas造了一尊像，
並把一副和羊皮盾一樣的胸甲圍在神像上。從這時起，她自稱為「Pallas Athena」。
